If anyone is struggling with big fingers / little VFO knobs have a look at the kranker design. I have just fitted one to my FT817D and it has transformed the radio. One now ordered for my 857.

I’ve been a fan of Kranker for quite a while, and swear by it. Small knobs are just no use, so every little helps when it comes to having a firm grip, and something else to twiddle. 😉
Peg leg stands are also the biz with the 817 – I swear by mine as well. Makes it far easier to see the display when the rig is lifted a little 🙂
I second the above. The Kranker knob is one of the more useful mods to the 817. The Peg legs are a bit expensive, but work a treat.
