New licence holder day

Post from Nigel Bazely GD6AFB

Dear All

Now that we have completed two Foundation courses, with a third on the way, the team thought it would be a great idea if we invite you all to a new licence holder day at Barrule House, on the Ronaldsway Industrial Estate this Saturday.

We plan to have a few transceivers setup, both in the building and in cars, there will be an opportunity to have a practice on the air, and try out some of the different options – handheld, base or mobile, covering HF through to UHF.

Also, we plan to have dummy loads available, so those of you who are a bit nervous can limit your range to the building, should you wish to practice among yourselves. If you’ve already bought some kit, then bring it along and let us see, should you need help setting up, we would be delighted to assist you. If you’re having problems enrolling with Ofcom or applying for your new callsign, we are here to help.

There will also be some SDR (Software Defined Radio) software and hardware on show that you can try. Additionally, those of you who have passed the practical and have their completed assessment sheets, can operate under the Club callsign with supervision.

It would be great if you could come down and see us between 16:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 4th March, we’d love to see how you’re all getting on.

Those of you you fancy talking on the way in we will be monitoring 145.550 and GB3IM

EGM 14th March

1st March 2017

Dear IOMARS  Members

As per the letter sent to all club members dated 18th February 2017 (contents included below for convenience).

“All members are asked to volunteer and or nominate a committee member for either role as Secretary or treasurer by the 1st March 2017.

If there are more candidates than positions then an extra ordinary meeting will be called to be held on 14th March 2017 to elect a new Secretary and Treasurer.

If, by the 1st March 2017 the committee hasn’t received any nominations then the committee will appoint a new Secretary and Treasurer during its next meeting on the 6th March 2017”

The Committee has received only one volunteer for the position of Secretary and two Nominees for
Treasurer. The Nominees for Treasure are Andy Morgan and John Dowling.

No other nominations or volunteers for either post  have been received by the acting Secretary and or the Chairman.

As there are two volunteers for the  position of Treasurer,  the Committee, calls all IOMARS members to attend an EGM on the 14th March, prior to the bring and buy, for the purpose of voting in the new treasurer

As per the constitution “No other business may be transacted at the EGM.”, so as soon as voting for Treasurer is dispensed with, the EGM will be closed and the bring and buy can be opened for business!

The EGM will begin at 8:00 pm on Tuesday 14th March and only fully paid members will be eligible to vote.

Best Regards

IOMARS Committee

Letter to all club members:-

The following text has been emailed to all club members with email addresses, and will be posted to those who have not given an email address, or don’t have one:-

Dear Members
Over the recent weeks the recently elected Secretary and Treasurer, Dave Cain, has resigned his
posts. Currently, Matty Cunningham is acting treasurer and John Bean is acting Secretary.
This leaves the IOMARS in a position where it has to fill these positions more permanently and
during a recent committee meeting it was decided that all the members be informed of this situation
and advise the members of the committee’s decision as to how the committee proposes to resolve
this matter.
The committee’s decision to resolve this matter is as follows.
All members are asked to volunteer and or nominate a committee member for either role as
Secretary or treasurer by the 1st March 2017.
If there are more candidates than positions then an extra ordinary meeting will be called to be held
on 14th March 2017 to elect a new Secretary and Treasure.
If, by the 1st March 2017 the committee hasn’t received any nominations then the committee will
appoint a new Secretary and Treasurer during its next meeting on the 6th March 2017.
Please direct any nominations to John K Bean, the acting secretary at the address above (101 Malew Street,Castletown, Isle of Man IM91LX) , or email
iomars@manx.net
Regards
Matty Cunningham MD0MAN
Chairman
